About this site

The Channel lies in the Gili Lawalaut area off the coast of Komodo, within West Manggarai Regency in East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. This part of the Komodo National Park region is known for narrow passages between islands where tidal flow moves strongly between the Flores Sea and the straits further south, and the site reaches a maximum depth of around 30 metres with good visibility. It is rated an advanced dive, in keeping with the current-driven nature of these channels. Divers have also reported mandarinfish here, alongside the usual reef life drawn to this kind of current-swept terrain.
