The Cliff lies within the Bay of Ghoubbet, an enclosed inlet off the Gulf of Tadjoura on the coast of Djibouti, where the Gulf of Aden waters meet the volcanic Afar landscape. This bay is known for its dramatic dry surroundings of dark basalt cliffs meeting the sea, and its sheltered waters are reached by boat from the town of Tadjoura or from Djibouti City.
