The Bay of Ghoubbet is a narrow, enclosed inlet connected to the Gulf of Tadjoura on the Djibouti coast, itself opening into the Gulf of Aden near the mouth of the Red Sea. This is a volcanic landscape, with dark basalt shorelines and deep, sheltered water shaped by the Afar rift system. Dive operators in the area typically run trips out of Djibouti City or nearby coastal points along the gulf.
