About this site
Taketomi and the Aragusuku islands sit in the Yaeyama group of Okinawa Prefecture, in the far southwest of Japan's Kyushu region, well south of the main Okinawan islands and closer to Taiwan than to Tokyo. The waters around these small islands are dotted with coral reef formations reached by boat from Ishigaki Island, the main hub for diving in the Yaeyamas.
