About this site
Tortuga Canyons lies off Ambergris Caye, Belize's long narrow island facing the Belize Barrier Reef, the largest reef system in the Western Hemisphere. Divers reach it by a short boat trip out of San Pedro, crossing the reef flat before dropping into deeper water beyond the barrier. The site reaches a maximum depth of around 33.5 metres.
