About this site
Turtle Patch lies off Sipadan Island, Malaysia's only oceanic island, situated in the Celebes Sea off the east coast of Sabah, Borneo. The island sits atop a steep volcanic pinnacle that rises from the seabed several hundred metres below, and dive sites around its fringing reef are reached by short boat rides from Semporna or from accommodations on nearby Mabul and Kapalai. The site reaches a maximum depth of around 20 metres and is rated an advanced dive. Manta rays are a regular sighting here, and divers have also reported barracuda, batfish, eagle rays, parrotfish, trevally, and tuna moving along the reef.
