Virador lies off the Guanacaste coast of northwestern Costa Rica, in Pacific waters near the Papagayo peninsula, typically reached by boat from coastal towns such as Playas del Coco. The site sits over a rocky bottom and reaches a maximum depth of about 24.4 metres, rated a beginner dive with visibility generally described as great. Eagle rays are a regular sighting here, and divers have also reported angelfish, butterflyfish, damselfish, moray eels, reef sharks, scorpionfish, sea turtles, snapper, stingrays, surgeonfish, and wrasse around the reef.
