About this site
West Escarceo sits along the Escarceo Point area on the northwest side of the Puerto Galera diving area in Mindoro, Luzon, facing the channel waters that run between Mindoro and Batangas. This stretch of coast is part of the wider Verde Island Passage region, known for its varied points and drop-offs reached by boat from the resorts around Sabang and Small La Laguna. The reef here reaches a maximum depth of around 21 metres and is rated a beginner dive, though a medium current runs through the site. Divers regularly find grouper, octopus, pufferfish, scorpionfish, and tuna over the reef, and there have also been reports of barracuda, damselfish, mackerel, parrotfish, pipefish, stonefish, trevally, and triggerfish around the same grounds.
