About this site
The Alma Jane is a wooden cargo vessel that sank near Sabang in Puerto Galera, on the north coast of Mindoro in the Philippines, and now sits upright on a sand slope, reaching a maximum depth of around 29.4 metres. It is rated an intermediate dive, typically with light current and good visibility, and remains a popular boat dive out of the Sabang and Small La Laguna area. The hull and surrounding sand attract batfish, frogfish, lionfish, mantis shrimp, octopus, snapper, stonefish and sweetlips, and divers have also reported barracuda, cuttlefish, fusiliers, garden eels, moray eels, nudibranchs, pipefish, pufferfish, scorpionfish, triggerfish and tuna around the structure. Some divers have noted metal scaffolds with sharp edges and other pointed debris on the wreck, along with the usual risks of swimming into enclosed sections, so care around the structure is worthwhile. It is often paired with nearby muck and reef sites during a day of diving out of Puerto Galera.
