About this site
Sabang Point sits off Sabang Beach on the Puerto Galera coast of Mindoro, at the northern tip of the island facing the Verde Island Passage, in a stretch of Luzon that is a well known diving hub with numerous named sites reached by boat from the beach itself. The site includes a sailboat wreck and reaches a maximum depth of around 20 metres, rated a beginner dive with light current and good visibility over a wreck bottom. Batfish, damselfish, frogfish, lionfish, scorpionfish, and surgeonfish are regularly found here, and divers have also reported angelfish, anthias, butterflyfish, moray eels, nudibranchs, octopus, seahorses, ghost pipefish, and even sea turtles and manta rays passing through. The wreck structure carries some risk of hose entanglement and sharp overhead objects, and scorpionfish and stonefish sightings mean care is needed with hand placement, while current can turn unpredictable during tidal changes.
