About this site

Anemone Reef sits in the Andaman Sea off Phangnga, Thailand, not far from the well-known Shark Point site, and is a submerged pinnacle rising toward the surface without breaking it. The reef takes its name from the dense carpet of anemones covering its upper sections. Verified data puts the maximum depth at 18 metres, with a beginner rating, light current and good visibility over a reef bottom, though currents around the pinnacle can run strong and the shallow top has been flagged as a navigation hazard to boats. Clownfish shelter among the anemones, and divers regularly encounter barracuda, snapper, nudibranchs, seahorses, ghost pipefish, leopard sharks and even whale sharks passing through. Other reports from the site include eagle rays, groupers, lionfish, trevally, tuna, mimic octopus and ornate ghost pipefish. It is typically dived by boat out of Phuket or Phangnga along with nearby sites in the area.
