Anemone Reef

Anemone Reef is a submerged pinnacle in the Andaman Sea off southern Thailand, generally dived from boats out of Phuket rather than Koh Phi Phi itself despite the regional listing here. It rises from deeper water toward the surface and takes its name from the dense carpet of anemones covering its upper reaches, with a maximum recorded depth of about 25.2 metres and a reef bottom throughout. It is rated a beginner dive with light current, though a strong current has been reported here at times. Barracuda, lionfish, moray eels, seahorses, snapper and whale sharks are regularly encountered, and divers have also reported batfish, clownfish, cuttlefish, eagle rays, frogfish, fusiliers, glassfish, jacks, leopard sharks, ornate ghost pipefish, parrotfish, pipefish, pufferfish, scorpionfish, turtles, stingrays and trevally around the pinnacle.
