About this site
Chinchorrito lies along the reef line off Mahahual, a small coastal town on the Costa Maya in Quintana Roo, on the Yucatan Peninsula's Caribbean coast. The site sits within the broader Mesoamerican Reef system that runs along this stretch of Mexico's coastline, over a reef bottom that reaches a maximum depth of around 30 metres and is rated an advanced dive. Divers here have reported barracuda, eagle rays, grouper, moray eels, sea turtles, and wrasse along the reef.
