About this site

The Aquarium sits off Havelock Island (Swaraj Dweep) in the Andaman archipelago, part of India's Andaman and Nicobar Islands in the Bay of Bengal, and is reached by boat from Port Blair, the main hub for diving in the island chain. It is a reef dive to around 14 metres, rated for beginners, with no current and great visibility. Clownfish and nudibranchs are common on the reef, and divers have also reported angelfish, bannerfish, batfish, bumphead parrotfish, butterflyfish, crocodilefish, eagle rays, garden eels, lionfish, mantis shrimp, octopus, parrotfish, pipefish, scorpionfish, seahorses, surgeonfish, trevally, wrasse, and even dolphins and dugongs passing through. Crown of thorns starfish have also been noted on the reef.
