About this site
This small schooner was carrying a cargo of large sandstone blocks from Jacobsville, MI on the Keweenaw when she anchored behind St Helena Island to wait out a gale. The winds shifted and her anchor lines parted, driving her onto the rocks off Gros Cap. Over time the upper works were washed away, but the lower hull was held to the reef by the stone blocks, and make a great shallow dive and snorkeling site, with the blocks also visible for kayakers. Two portions of the decking lie nearby, but otherwise only cables and small fittings can be located. No public access nearby, ask for permission or approach by boat. Lies in about 4.6 m; sank 1895.
