The Sandusky is a wooden brig that lies in northern Lake Huron near the Michigan coast, in the waters off the Straits of Mackinac region. It is one of many historic sailing vessels preserved in the cold fresh water of the Great Lakes, an environment known for keeping wooden shipwrecks in unusually good condition. The wreck rests at a maximum depth of about 21.3 metres and is rated a beginner dive. The area falls within Michigan's Great Lakes freshwater dive territory, popular for its concentration of nineteenth-century wrecks.
