About this site
Casa Cenote, also known as Cenote Manatee, lies along the coast near Tulum in Quintana Roo, part of the extensive cenote system running through the Yucatan Peninsula. It is a mangrove-lined lagoon connected to the sea by an underground channel, offering a shallow, clear mix of fresh and saltwater popular for both open-water snorkeling and cavern diving. Divers commonly follow swim-throughs and light-filled passages, where the halocline between fresh and salt layers creates a visible shimmer. It is rated a beginner dive, staying close to daylight zones for much of its length, though venturing beyond marked lines requires cave training.
