Chibishi Labyrinth

Labyrinth (ラビリンス) is a boat-dive reef on the south side of Kamiyama Island in the Chibishi islets, about 30 minutes from Naha, Okinawa, with a maximum depth of 25 m and an average around 12 m. Countless coral heads lie at 8 to 14 m, and overlapping rocks form crevasses and arches that give the site its maze-like name; buoyancy control and a torch are needed for the darker passages. Tops from 5 m serve introductory dives and courses, where sergeant majors and damselfish crowd round divers, and nudibranchs are numerous in the cool season along with cuttlefish and ghost pipefish; schooling barracuda, parrotfish and fusiliers are typical. Little current; suitable from beginner level.
