About this site
Chikin Ha Cenote sits within the cenote network near Puerto Aventuras and Tulum on the Yucatan Peninsula, in the Quintana Roo region of Mexico. Like other cenotes in this limestone karst landscape, it forms part of a freshwater sinkhole system connected to the region's extensive underground river network. The dive here reaches a maximum depth of around 18 metres over a cave floor, rated beginner, with visibility generally reported as great. Divers have also reported a halocline layer at the site, where fresh and saline water meet and blur the view for a stretch.
