About this site
Christ of the Abyss is a submerged bronze statue in Key Largo, Florida, part of John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park in the Florida Keys. It sits over a reef bottom in shallow water, reaching a maximum depth of about 7.6 metres, and the combination of shallow depth and great visibility makes it a beginner-friendly dive. It is one of the most photographed underwater sites in the region, drawing snorkelers and divers alike to the statue and the surrounding reef. Divers have also reported nurse sharks and stingrays around the site.
