About this site
The Spiegel Grove is a former US Navy amphibious landing ship deliberately sunk as an artificial reef off Key Largo in the Florida Keys in 2002. It is a large steel wreck lying in the waters of the upper Keys, with a maximum depth of around 18 metres and a bottom type of wreck itself, and it is rated an advanced dive. Divers have reported strong currents at the site, along with barracuda, grouper, and reef sharks around the hull, though other marine life may turn up as well. Given its size, much of the wreck sits well within recreational depths, but current and orientation around the structure are the main considerations divers plan for here.
