About this site
Coningbeg Rock lies off the coast of County Waterford in Munster, near the Saltee Islands at the southeast tip of Ireland, in the waters where the Irish Sea and Celtic Sea meet. This stretch of coast is exposed to Atlantic swell and has long been treacherous for shipping passing Ireland's southeast corner. The site reaches a maximum depth of around 45 metres and is rated technical, and divers have also reported strong currents around the rock.
