Coral Garden

Coral Garden is a reef dive site in Aqaba, Jordan, located at coordinates 29.40045, 34.96654, directly offshore along a stretch of coast where access is restricted by a gated area. Entry from shore requires permission from the adjacent hotel and a long swim out from their jetty; the site is not suitable for snorkelling and is rated advanced level.

The reef is a large patch reef with relatively flat topography dominated by prominent coral heads, including branching hard corals, lettuce corals, and fire corals, with sandy bottom between the formations. Maximum depth runs to around 17–18 m, and the best corals are found at the deeper end of the reef. Because the reef is so large, divers can surface well away from their planned exit point if not careful, and diving south with the current is the typical approach. The site is noted as suitable for Nitrox (EANx) diving to extend bottom time given the amount to explore.

Marine life at Coral Garden is diverse: large moray eels are common throughout the coral heads, frogfish crawl among the corals, and the sandy bottom is patrolled by crocodilefish and torpedo rays. Barracuda and other predators move through the open water just beyond the reef structure, while clownfish are found guarding anemones and schools of reef fish shelter close to the coral heads. Pufferfish are also frequently seen across the varied topography.
