About this site

Deep Turbo is a drift dive off Gili Trawangan, the largest of the three Gili Islands off Lombok's northwest coast in West Nusa Tenggara, within the current-driven channel between the Gilis and the Lombok mainland. It runs over a reef bottom to a maximum depth of around 31 metres, rated an advanced dive due to strong current, with good visibility. Divers commonly encounter barracuda, batfish, bumphead parrotfish, eagle rays, fusiliers, garden eels, leopard sharks, reef sharks, seahorses, and triggerfish, and there have also been reports of hammerhead sharks, sea turtles, moray eels, scorpionfish, nudibranchs, and various snapper, sweetlips, trevally, and tuna passing through. Changing conditions and strong currents are noted hazards, consistent with the site's reputation as a demanding drift.
