East Point

East Point is one of the noted dive sites off Sipadan Island in Sabah, Malaysia, on the eastern side of this small oceanic island rising from the Celebes Sea. It is known for strong currents that sweep along the point, drawing pelagic species such as barracuda, jacks, and grey reef sharks, along with the green turtles for which Sipadan is well known. The wall drops steeply from shallow reef into deep water, with dives commonly run in the 5 to 30 metre range depending on where the group settles along the drop-off. Because of the current and the potential for downcurrents at the point itself, it is generally considered a dive better suited to more experienced divers.
