About this site
El Bajo, also known as Marisla, is a submerged seamount in the Sea of Cortez off the coast of Baja California Sur, reached by boat from La Paz. The site rises from deep open water as a pinnacle, and it has long drawn divers hoping to encounter schooling hammerhead sharks along with other pelagics passing through the surrounding water. Currents around the seamount can be strong and unpredictable, and the dive is rated advanced. Exact depths and conditions vary with the season and with which part of the pinnacle is being worked.
