El Bajo Sea Mounts is a submerged seamount in the Gulf of California near La Paz and Espiritu Santo Island in Baja California Sur, reached by boat from La Paz. Divers have reported hammerhead sharks schooling around the mounts, a main draw for those who make the trip out, along with other pelagic species passing through the open water above the summits. The site is rated advanced, and currents around the seamount can run strong and unpredictable, adding to the challenge of diving open water away from a shoreline.
