El Medellot lies within the Medes Islands archipelago, off the coast of L'Estartit in the Girona province of Catalonia, near El Magallot island. The islands sit within a protected marine reserve in the western Mediterranean, and dive sites around them are typically reached by short boat trips from L'Estartit harbour.
