Fly Point

Fly Point sits inside Port Stephens near Nelson Bay, on the New South Wales coast north of Newcastle, forming part of a marine reserve within the bay. It is a shore dive along a rocky point with easy entry, sheltered from ocean swell and popular with local dive schools. The site is known for macro subjects and temperate reef life typical of southern Queensland to central New South Wales waters, including nudibranchs, blue gropers, and soft corals along the rock wall. It reaches a maximum depth of around 15 metres and is rated a beginner dive, making it a popular choice for night dives as well. Visibility can vary with the tides and runoff from the bay, so conditions are best checked locally before diving.
