About this site
The Galija Wreck lies off Vis Island in the Adriatic Sea southwest of Split, in waters that were controlled by the Yugoslav military for decades and only opened to outside visitors from the 1990s onward. Dive operators based in the harbor town of Vis run trips out to this and other named wreck and reef sites scattered around the island. The Galija sits down to around 56 metres and is rated a technical dive. Divers have reported reduced visibility below 10 metres, which requires careful attention on the descent and ascent.
