About this site

Gili Tepekong is a small island off Candidasa on Bali's east coast, dived as a wall site with a maximum depth around 15.4 metres and rated advanced. The wall and its position in open water are known for strong, unpredictable currents, and divers have described downcurrents, spiral currents and a notorious current feature locally called the toilet, along with cold upwellings and thermocline shifts. Marine life here includes barracuda, eagle rays, Napoleon wrasse, sweetlips and reef sharks, with mola mola seen here during the cooler season, and divers have also reported turtles, groupers, trevally, tuna and manta rays. Visibility is generally good, but the combination of steep walls and shifting, powerful currents makes this a site best treated with caution and local knowledge.
