About this site
Gili Tepekong is a small island off Bali's southeast coast near Candidasa, sitting in a channel known for cold upwellings from deep water nearby. It is a wall dive rated advanced, reaching a maximum depth of around 40 metres, and is known for strong, unpredictable currents around its underwater pinnacles and the feature called the Canyon, with downcurrents and surge among the hazards divers have reported. Mola mola have been spotted here during the cooler months, along with frogfish, trevally, and tuna. Conditions can change quickly, which is part of why the site is generally left to divers already comfortable handling current.
