About this site
Grotta Perciata sits along the coastline of Marettimo, the westernmost and most rugged of the Egadi Islands off the northwest coast of Sicily. The Egadi archipelago is known for its clear waters and limestone coast, with Marettimo in particular marked by steep cliffs and numerous grottoes cut into the shoreline, and access to this site is typically by small boat from the island's port. The cave reaches a maximum depth of around 22 metres over a cave bottom and is rated a beginner dive. Divers have also reported scorpionfish here, along with mauve stinger jellyfish drifting through the cave's waters at times.
