About this site
Hinoura (日の浦) is a main mooring-buoy site at Tatsukushi in Tosashimizu, Kochi Prefecture, suitable from novice level. Pinnacles topping out at 5 m and valleys dropping to the 14 m maximum create a complex topography, with beds of table coral where butterflyfish and damselfish gather in summer. It is sheltered from north winds in winter, when shrimps, crabs and nudibranchs take over, and harlequin shrimp and boxer crabs are sometimes found. A drift entry from beyond the buoy often produces sea turtles, and yellowtail and amberjack in summer.
