About this site
Hirane Suichu Onsen (平根 水中温泉) is a shore-entry site on Sado Island, Niigata, with a maximum depth of 18 m and an average around 8 m. At around 15 m, streams of bubbles rise from several spots on the reef where a natural hot spring vents into the sea, and fish gather around the warm water. No current, but the entry and exit are difficult; intermediate and above. Divers traditionally bring eggs or sweet potatoes to cook in the spring and eat after the dive.
