About this site
Nagate (北小浦 長手) is a sandy boat-dive site at Kitakoura on Sado Island, Niigata, ten minutes from the harbour, with a maximum depth of 27 m and an average around 17 m. Its shallow profile suits refresher dives and beginners, yet almost every fish species found around Sado can be seen here. Little current; suitable from beginner level. It is the only site on the island where pinecone fish are found consistently, alongside damselfish, rockfish, red-spotted grouper, fat greenling and tubesnouts.
