About this site
James Bay sits on the western side of Santiago Island in the Galapagos archipelago, a volcanic island shaped by dark lava flows along its shoreline. The site is accessible from the anchorage there, which has long been a stop for boats touring the western islands. Waters around this part of the Galapagos are influenced by cool, nutrient-rich currents typical of the archipelago's western side. Diving here is rated beginner level, reaching a maximum depth of around 18 metres, and divers have also reported batfish on the site.
