About this site
John Brewer Reef is an outer reef of the Great Barrier Reef system, located off Townsville on the central Queensland coast and reached by boat trip from the mainland. It is a coral reef site with the typical mix of bommies, coral gardens, and channels found on outer reefs in this part of the Coral Sea. Diving here reaches a maximum depth of around 18 metres and is rated a beginner site. Divers have reported batfish and damselfish moving among the coral formations.
