About this site
Kama no Shiri (釜の尻) is a gravel-beach shore entry on the north-east of Miyakejima in the Izu Islands, Tokyo. Fish life gets denser further offshore, and so does the chance of current, so air needs careful watching; maximum depth 21 m, average around 15 m, suitable from beginner level. Divers with good air consumption and finning can expect green turtles and wrought-iron butterflyfish, while frogfish, seahorses, angelfish and grouper are within beginner range, and an artificial reef for bigfin reef squid gives a chance of seeing mass spawning.
