About this site
Kamepara (カメパラ) is a boat-dive reef south of Nagannu Island in the Chibishi islets, about 30 minutes from Naha, Okinawa, with a maximum depth of 20 m and an average around 12 m. The name is short for turtle paradise: a coral head at about 12 m where sea turtles regularly rest, sometimes several at once, including green turtles close to a metre long trailing remoras. Batfish hold on the same head, and schooling red barracuda hang in the shallows around 8 m along with anemonefish, damselfish, parrotfish and fusiliers. Little current; suitable from beginner level.
