About this site
Nagannu Kita (ナガンヌ北) is a boat-dive wall on the north side of Nagannu Island in the Chibishi islets, about 30 minutes from Naha, Okinawa, with a maximum depth of 35 m and an average around 12 m. The bottom slopes gently offshore before dropping sharply from about 14 m to 35 m, and schools of fusiliers, purple anthias and pyramid butterflyfish run along the drop-off. Boats usually anchor over flat ground at about 8 m, where dartfish pairs and anemonefish suit photographers and introductory dives, and sea turtles are common since the island is a nesting beach; cuttlefish mate and spawn in the cool season. Current is slight except near the drop-off, where drift dives are sometimes done; suitable from beginner level.
