About this site
Kita Hitotsu Iwa (北一つ岩) is a long, narrow rock 20 minutes by boat from Chichijima in the Ogasawara Islands, Tokyo, with a maximum depth of 24 m and an average around 14 m. Turtles rest in hollows in the rock, and lionfish and red spiny lobster are numerous, alongside reef fish such as yellowfin goatfish, bluestripe snapper and juvenile emperor angelfish. Current runs here and the site suits intermediate divers and above.
