About this site
Koh Dok Mai is a small limestone island off the coast of Phuket in the Andaman Sea, near Mai Thon Island in southern Thailand. Its steep limestone sides continue underwater as a wall, dropping to around 30 metres, and it is rated an advanced dive due to medium current and visibility that runs poor. Nudibranchs and snapper are a regular sight along the wall, and divers have also reported barracuda, frogfish, ghost pipefish, pipefish, and seahorses tucked into its crevices. Strong currents and variable visibility have also been noted here, so conditions can shift during a dive. Dive boats from Phuket typically reach it as part of day trips covering nearby sites in the area.
