About this site
Fish Reef (魚礁) is a boat-dive artificial-reef site off Kume Island, Okinawa, about 15 minutes from harbour, with a maximum depth of 24 m and an average around 14 m and no current. A large coral head stands on the sand, and from it a series of artificial reef modules descend toward deeper water. Batfish school in mid-water and approach divers, anemonefish and shrimps and crabs live around the head, juveniles and unusual nudibranchs hide in its fissures, and the soft coral on the deeper modules holds more shrimps and crabs. Suitable from beginner level.
