About this site
La Catedral is a dive site at Malpelo Island, a remote volcanic outcrop far off the Pacific coast of Colombia that can only be reached by liveaboard after a long open ocean crossing. The island and its surrounding waters are protected as a national park and are known for big animal encounters, particularly large aggregations of hammerhead sharks along with silky sharks and other pelagics drawn to the steep underwater terrain.
