About this site
La Cueva sits along the coastline of Tortuga Island in the Gulf of Nicoya, off the Puntarenas coast of Costa Rica, within the sheltered waters of the gulf rather than the open Pacific swell found further offshore. It is reached on day trips from mainland ports such as Puntarenas and Playa Naranjo. The site has a maximum depth of around 10 metres, making it a shallow dive suited to the gulf's calmer conditions.
