About this site
La Francesa lies along the west coast of Cozumel, an island off the Yucatan Peninsula in Quintana Roo, Mexico, within the marine park that runs along that shoreline. Dive boats working the island's leeward reefs typically reach it on the way between the more heavily trafficked sites further south. The reef here tops out at around 18.8 metres and is rated a beginner dive, though the current running through it is moderate. Butterflyfish and stingrays are common over the reef, and divers have also reported angelfish, eagle rays, grouper, manta rays, nurse sharks, parrotfish, pipefish, sea turtles, and snapper on the site.
