About this site
Lawai Beach lies along the south shore of Kauai, near Poipu on the island's leeward side, within the Koloa district that is popular for shore access into the nearshore Pacific. It's a beginner dive over a reef bottom, with a light current and a maximum depth of around 7.6 metres. Divers have reported damselfish, scorpionfish, triggerfish, wrasse, and even whales passing offshore. Entry and exit call for some care, as reports mention rocks at the entry point, shore break, lava cuts, coral gashes, and occasional surface or drift currents to the right, along with scorpionfish spines to watch for, and there's no lifeguard on duty.
