About this site
Le Polynesien was a French ocean liner requisitioned as a troopship during the First World War and torpedoed by a German U-boat off Malta in 1918. The wreck lies off the Malta coast on a seabed bottom, with a maximum depth of around 65 metres, rated as a technical dive. It sits largely intact, with masts, deck structure, and cargo still recognisable, making it a popular target for deep and wreck divers based out of Malta.
