Lipah Bay

Lipah Bay sits on the northeast coast of Bali, in the Amed area of Karangasem regency, not far along the coast from Tulamben. The bay is a black sand cove typical of this stretch of shoreline, with small fishing boats operating from the beach, and beneath the surface it is known as a muck diving site over a reef bottom, reaching a maximum depth of around 40 metres. It is rated a beginner dive with light current and good visibility. Frogfish, mimic octopus, and rhinopias are all found here, and divers have also reported garden eels, ghost pipefish, leaf scorpionfish, lionfish, nudibranchs, scorpionfish, seahorses, and stonefish. Venomous scorpionfish have been noted as a hazard, so care is worth taking when settling on the sand.
